Loma Alta Trail (Friday Night Hike)

http://bahiker.com/northbayhikes/lomaalta.html

I'm expecting a hot summer, so I'll be trying out a few night hikes as an alternative to the usual morning hikes.

Parking: http://goo.gl/maps/1fmha

Parking is off to the side of the road. We will gather at the gate. This trail does have off-leash fire roads available. This is a moderate hike as it does wind up the mountain and can be a little steep in some places.

For those wishing to hike past the event end time, please do keep in mind that there are still mountain lions in California.

Nobody lost to darkness or mountain lions! That's a great trail for a fog-shrouded day.

I am so sorry, but I have to cancel this one. The drive is just too much taking rush our in consideration. I am coming from Santa Rosa. However, I love the idea of evening walks especially during the summer. I am game for anything closer to Santa Rosa. :)

I seem to have caught the flu and won't be able to join after all but was really looking forward to it. Hope to meet up with you all at the next hike.

I can't come, but love the idea of a Friday night hike. Let's do that more often, a? So nice to have the longer and beautiful days.

Advice? Paws crossed, I'd like to try it although don't want to slow you down &/or he may need to turn back early. Tried all my tricks & he still refuses to hydrate (walking) so should we wait for easier/shorter/evening trail? > w/14 y.o. Shiba Inu

We have a 14 yr old too. We can walk in back with you.

I think the Old Railroad Grade (my planned direction) is an easier trail than the Gunshot Fire Road. I'm fine with hanging in the back as well

This is a solid 2-hour hike. There is one steep section [masked] yards), the rest is gradual.

FYI - The description as written in the article starts the hike from the Glen Drive trailhead.

Looking forward to joining this hike but a bit unsure about parking directions, can anyone give me a bit more detail? I have not been here before, do I turn off Sir Francis Drake on Glen Drive and drive to the end and park there? Sorry to be so dense! Txs!

From San Rafael, keep going past Glen Drive. The gate is on a bridge which is past the White Hill Middle School and Bothin Youth Center. There is no cross-street here. If you see signs for the Sacred (or Spirit) Rock Church, then you've gone too far on Sir Francis Drake and will have to U-turn.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
