We can call it "knock the rust off"

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • I'm sure by the title you can see where this is going. I haven't flown in a while and I would love to knock the ol' rust off as economically as possible and I'm sure other members may be in the same situation. I think it would be beneficial for the group, and the future of aviation if current pilots would be willing to take up some of the rusty members on a flight they were planning anyway. Meetup seems like the perfect platform for this and I'd be surprised if there aren't pilots out there willing to do this...I know I would if I had the opportunity. I would travel to Raleigh or Wilmington or any small airport in between, wherever the coach pilot is based. I know you need a CFI to clear you for the biannual, not trying to get around that at all...Just need to get some rust knocked off first!

Are there any other former military pilots in the group? New to the area and love to meet others with similar interests.

Rafael, have you looked at some other aviation groups in the area? There are a number of fairly large and active EAA chapters (such as Apex Chapter 1114 if you are not far). Around these parts they seem to be the most active and broad-based social flying groups and have a pretty good number of ex-military aviators.

If you Googles him, he's still at the Raleith Surgical Group on Blue Ridge. He might not be listed there since he's retired. He comes in 1 or 2 times a week to do the medicals. Phone is (919)[masked]

I wouldn't mind flying with a rusty pilot in his or her plane as a passenger. I happen to be a CFI but if we're just talking about riding along but no FR or logged dual, I'd be happy to as a way of meeting more pilots in the area (I moved to NC just about a year ago)

Hey Mark, I am a WCFC member too, since 2004. I have not flown since late 2007, but am working on getting back to it financially and physically. Would love to fly with you sometime.

Total Flight seems like a great idea, wish I lived nearer to Raleigh! Bob, I think of THIS as a flying club and there certainly seems to be plenty of pilots near the Triangle. I would travel up there to fly with someone if they were interested but they'd definitely be the PIC, I don't think I could be any rustier. I do hope that if anyone is interested in a short trip or just tooling around the Fayetteville area, they would please keep me in mind! I would pay for fuel and a meal or something!

No David. I'm up near Chapel Hill.
