Group Social and Fire Making

  • Aug 17, 2013 · 3:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

As “developing a network” is listed high on everyone’s reasons for joining, we’ll be trying to schedule at least one “social” event a month.

Bring your tools for making a fire when TSHTF.  We'll find a location/park with fire pits or BBQ so you can try that blastmatch/firestarter/Thor's hammer whatever.  You may be surprised; they tend to be a bit more difficult. NO MATCHES!! : )

I tried the steel wool with a fresh battery at home and it burned right away. It caught a petroleum soaked cotton ball really well.

It's a lot harder than it looks. I'm going to put a flat screen TV in my BOB tomorrow.
    Thanks Woody!

Great meet up, saw lots of cool firestarting, nice to get experience and see what works and what doesn't.

Bringing what I would make sure I had if leaving in a hurry and I think others might find helpful, which is not what you can construct from found materials. I would very much like to see those systems in action though.

    Hi Woody!
I see it's legal to have dogs on leash but am unfamiliar with the park, what are your thoughts about bringing our dogs to this event?
