N.DFW Broader Horizons Book Club April 2014 Meeting: Banned & Challenged Books

After a narrow defeat in the 11th hour last month, "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote claims victory as the book for our April 13th meeting! Suggested by Arli. If you would like to purchase the book through TBCCS (The Book Carriage and Coffee Shop) please post a comment below by Saturday March 1st so we can allow TBCCS enough time to have the book ready to be picked up by our March 9th meeting. I'll find out how much the book will cost later today. Also, if you would like to bring refreshments please comment below.

This is Goodreads quote of the day for April 14:

The village of Holcomb stands on the high wheat plains of western Kansas, a lonesome area that other Kansans call “out there. Truman Capote

Not long after midnight on April 14, 1965, the murderers depicted in Truman Capote's true-crime book, In Cold Blood, were executed. The writer was in attendance.

The weather forecasts for today are reporting severe weather in our area right around the time of our meeting. We wouldn't anyone to get caught in bad weather coming or going from the meeting, so if the weather is looking bad by 3 pm today, unfortunately we're going to have to cancel. I will make the announcement either way at 3 pm.

Since TBCCS is having a function at the same time as our meeting, would anyone like to host at their home this Sunday? TBCCS has said we can still have our meeting there but they expect maybe a small crowd and worried we might be disturbed.

Also, TBCCS is having a local author meet and greet April 13th from 4 - 6 pm. And what do you know that just so happens to be the exact same time we plan on discussing Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood"! Arli and I are currently searching for a temporary alternate venue for the 13th. Suggestions are welcome.

If we haven't had the pleasure of meeting you yet, there's still plenty of time to RSVP, pick up a copy of "In Cold Blood " and have it read by Sunday after next!

    See y'all the 13th

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
