Discussion about R-E-S-P-E-C-T

One of the major pillars of any good relationship is RESPECT.   There's more to it than Aretha Franklin sang about.  In fact, some would say without this relationship element, it's hard to sustain one at all.

In this interactive discussion, we are going to tackle some easy and fun questions, then get into some harder ones.

We split up into small groups and everyone gets a chance to answer the question, then we get back together with the big group and discuss our findings.

If two heads are better than one, then this should be a mind-blowing leap forward in our understanding of respect!

Questions lead us to answers...and asking the RIGHT question really helps.

Some questions to think about before the meetup:

1) Name a time someone disrespected you.  How did that make you feel?

2) Is respect always mutual?  Why or why not?

3) How can I show respect in my language, actions, or attitudes?

4) Who are some role models of respect in my life?

5) Do I respect myself?

Feel free to use the comment area below to give your thoughts on the subject (please stay on topic and keep our rules in mind or your comments will magically disappear).

Also give us more good questions that we might use in the discussion!!

If you're worried about investing $5, don't worry.  You get free soft drinks, cheese bread, and sometimes people even bring a bottle of wine.

See you there!

Timely topic for the world we live in. The questions were just a starting point for us. We had several thoughtful discussions at our table. Glad to be part of such an insightful group. Very enjoyable evening.

Food for thought: When you lose respect for someone, how do you maintain a relationship with them (or can you)? This can be a s/o, parent, sibling, or supervisor.

Talk to them about it, gently. Was it an isolated incident or a repeated behavior? After talk, do you see positive change? Now you should know a bit more when dealing with this person in the future.

Good question Diane! I think the key is going back to where respect was lost and restoring it. Respect is closely tied to trust.

This is tonight!! Come as early as 6pm for dinner and fellowship (no food purchase is required, but you are certainly welcome to make one) the discussion begins at 7pm sharp and we will have cheese bread for all paid Authentic Daters at about 6:45. Bring your questions, your answers, and be ready to share. You might want to bring a pad of paper and a pen too.

If I bring a guest, do they need to pay? If so, can they pay @ the door?

Yes, Dianne, your guest may pay at the door. See you soon!
