Ride to Cracker Barrel in Lakeland

This ride is being organized and lead by Mark Broyles.
It's an area we don't usually ride much, north of I-4 but south of our usual roads, and bounded between Tampa and Lakeland.  There will be plenty of twisties through areas of citrus and strawberry fields. Meet at the Racetrac 9:15 to gas up.  Approximately 130 miles round trip returning back at Racetrac around 2:15ish. We'll take a break and a gas stop along the way.  Destination is Cracker Barrel to fuel up for the return.

KSU at 9:30.

All and all, a good organizing and leading debut for Mark. However, I caught him at a lie. I specifically remember him stating during the beginning speech that he had memorized the route. The further along we went, the more impressed I was with Mark's memory. But later on I saw that he had a printout of the directions clearly visible in the window of his tank bag.

Oh yeah, and that U-Turn was by design just to make sure everyone was paying attention... :) Haha.

Great ride, thanks Mark. Never been on most of those roads. A little warm in the afternoon... I wish winter would get here already! ...Oh, wait

Thanks everyone who was able to join today. I trust you enjoyed these roads and maybe we'll plan another route in this area in a couple of months. Gail gets the award for farthest distance traveled to the meet up. Welcome to the group and we hope to see you again soon. Appreciate Ken and Bill helping to manage the group today as it grew from about 8 riders to 14+ in the last week. Its great to be part of such an active group. We also had Mr. Bob Muir from SSR ride with us today (plug: reminder to sign up for ride next week with SSR and NHCMG to Linger Lodge if you can, its a great ride and cool destination). Everyone have a Happy and Safe Holiday. Until next time, ride safe. -Mark

I'm sorry that I will miss Mark's first ride, I will be polishing my halo while participating in a three day silent retreat back in Louisiana. Yes, I can stay quiet for three days. It involves using duct tape.

I've been watching him watching us, wondering if he had the itch to do a ride.

Yep. I like this area of riding and wanted to share it with the group. It's only slightly different than the great roads north of Lutz but very similar. There will be shorter runs with many turns through citrus and strawberry country, horses and cows etc. The route is under the files section for anyone interested. I trust everyone will find this fun and if feedback is positive we can plan more rides through the interior of this area in the future -Mark
