How on earth do we get you to play YOUR best tennis ALL THE TIME? Fair question! One aspect of that would be to help you to become more aware of the subtleties of the game, the sounds, rhythm, arcs of the ball, contact points, recovery moves, anticipation... In addition, it has been my experience that players who have confidence in their technique don't take errors quite so seriously, preferring to make the adjustments that they know will help them to avoid making the same error again soon. Players who are less confident of their preparation and responsiveness have a harder time. Here is where a little bit of the old 'Hollywood adage' comes into play, that being 'fake it until you make it!' Sometimes just assuming the attitude and posture of an accomplished player is all that is needed to get one moving and responding more effectively. You will surprise yourself! Once this happens there is something to build on as you will find it happening more and more often with your new relaxed, more fearless state of mind!
On another subject, if you look at the welcome to our group or under membership dues there is some information about the cost of this group.
Perhaps you noticed that payments are anonymous or by 'honor system'? This works well to allow everyone more flexibility. Players chip in more or less according to their ability at the moment, with those who have forgotten or unable to do so following through at a later date. If on one hand the group ends up being full, or you need to leave early, you might want to chip in a bit less, but on the other hand, when players wind up with a semi-private lesson and are moved to do so they might add a small tip. You also have the option of a flat payment which would cover up to three classes in one month's time and conceivably save you almost 45% if you make at least 3 classes; even if you just make two classes you will have saved a few dollars! My currently designated collection box of choice is a black nylon 'Kipling' backpack with red & black drawstrings.
One more note about attendance, a couple of players have not shown up after a positive rsvp, even more than once. If you are not sure that you will be able to follow through, please leave that space open. You can always stop by to say hello if it turns out that you do have the time. You may still be able to participate in a less than full group. I'm allowing room for six players as they count me as one. Big thanks to the couple of members who knew they would be unable to come and changed their rsvp well in advance. The round robin competitions will be larger, of course.
PLEASE, feel free to chime in on any of the discussions. Also, your very valued comments, prayerfully positive and/or constructive would be infinitely appreciated. Doesn't have to be more than a few words. THANK YOU in advance, from the bottom of my heart.
We will message phone #s in a way that you may be less likely to be broadcasting your number out over the www!? Perhaps the personal message tab is best for that, or we can exchange in person if not before.
Keep making it an outstanding week! :)
