Milky Way in the Forest!

Let's go out to the forest and try our skills at shooting the Milky Way! One of the easiest astrophotography subjects to capture is also one of the most impressive: the Milky Way Galaxy. Here are some links to helpful hints on how to shoot and what to bring. We will meet at the gas station and caravan to the site.
THINGS TO BRING:
BUG REPELLANT
CLOSED IN SHOES-IT COULD BE MUDDY
WARM CLOTHING
RED FLASHLIGHTS. YOU CAN COVER A REGULAR FLASHLIGHT WITH RED TAPE.
THIS IS AN ASTRONOMERS SITE AND THERE MAY BE SOME THERE. PLEASE BE MINDFUL AND DON'T USE REGULAR FLASHLIGHTS AS THEY WILL RUIN YOUR NIGHTVISION

********IF YOU ARE AFRAID OF THE DARK YOU MAY WANT TO PASS ON THIS******

We will meet at the Flash Foods gas station and head to Sanderson. The directions to that site are as follows:
I-10 east to exit 327(Sanderson)
Turn left on 229
Keep going until you reach Rt 90 and go over the railroad tracks (there will be a small convenience store to the right. Take the first left as soon as you cross over the tracks
Make the next right turn and you will continue on 229.
Continue about 6 miles until you see a brown sign "Osceola Wildlife Management Area" you will go .6 miles past that sign
Turn right at on 276-this sign is very small and you may miss it if you are not looking. This is a hard sand road
You will continue until you see a sign "POND ACCESS" the road may not be accessible so you can park on the road where you came in and walk back. I am including a link to my photo album on Facebook when I went out there in the daytime to scope it out

Hope to see you there! This place is amazing and very little light noise. You will see more stars than you normally see!

for those who need to rent a lens....Lensfly has a coupon code:THX15

It's almost TURKEY DAY! I can't wait to have the family over for a delicious meal and to look around the table, as I do every year, and appreciate the beautiful individuality each person brings to our family. (Not to mention the smoked turkey and baked macaroni and cheese...yummm! My mouth is watering already!) But first, we have the pleasure of taking this time of year to show our thanks to our wonderful, interesting, fun, hardworking, and supportive customers with a few specials. We hope that you can take advantage of the discount and free days, but even if you don't, please know that we really appreciate you and the business you bring to us at Lensfly! For 15% off any rental picked up between Monday (11/25) and Saturday (11/30), enter Coupon Code THX15. In addition, all 3-day rentals beginning Tuesday (11/26) or Wednesday (11/27) will be extended automatically to Monday, (12/2) on us! Happy Thanksgiving!

I am trying to change this event for 6:30pm. Would this work for everyone? This would give us more time to wait a little for everyone to get there before we leave for the site. We will be meeting at the Marietta exit of I-10. Thanks!

:) Ocean Pond is in the Oceola National Forest near the Olustee Battlefield. I had thought about going out to that area as I had seen it as one of the few spots in Fl where it gets dark.
