· Phil Schulman (Lakeland UU Fellowship Minister) will lead the service "Playing for Heaven's Sake."

Western religion has so often been deadly serious. No wonder so many free citizens of modern society have turned away from it. Is the purpose of religion to get us follow strict prescriptions for proper and moral living? Would any alternative put us on a slippery slope to wicked behavior? Can people develop faith, spirituality, and character by playing?

To have life more abundantly, to gain the a blissful experience of the divine, to enter the kingdom of heaven we must first be like children.. We must play! Playing brings heart and soul to life. Through play shall we discover the joyfulness intended for us. What is play? How much is good for us?

This service continues the tradition of April Fools, which began as a religious holiday. Young priests would wear their robes inside out, and burn stinky incense. We too will shake things up. We will reclaim the power of play to revitalize the spirit within us! Please join us for this lively service. We look forward to seeing you!
