Go play and youth Go classes every Sunday at It's Your Move!

Adult/youth Go play and youth Go classes happen each Sunday:

Adult Go play (14 and over):  11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Please feel free to come at any time during the event and stay as long as you like.  Players are welcome to stay past the formal end time.  Store hours are 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. As always, both raw beginners and experienced players are welcome.

If you don't know the rules yet, before you attend please check out the excellent interactive tutorial at  Of course I'm still happy to teach people from scratch.

Youth (under 14) classes and play (please note charges where relevant):

Youth tutorial (learning the game):  10:00 AM-11:00 AM (no charge, parent/responsible adult welcome to sit in, *24 hours advance notice of attendance is required*)

Youth class (structured):  11:00 AM - Noon ($10.00 charge, parent/responsible adult welcome to sit in, *24 hours advance notice of attendance is required*)

Supervised youth play:  Noon - 3:00 PM (drop in any time; $10.00 charge; youths to be picked up or joined by a parent/responsible adult by 3:30 PM)

Note:  Youths accompanied by a parent/responsible adult can participate in open play without charge.  Unaccompanied youths coming to the class may be dropped off as early as 10:00 AM (store opening time) by arrangement.  Combined charge for the class plus open play is $20.00.  Advance notice of class attendance should be sent to me at [masked] no later than noon of the day before (Saturday).

Hope to see you there!

Martin and Alex played a 2-stone game; the handicap was too small, so about halfway through I took over for black and commented the rest of the game. That's an unusual way to review, but people seemed to think it was useful. Daniel and I got a game in, and Gregg and Martin played a number of 9x9 games. Two new players came (8 year old Maia and her dad, whose name I failed to write down) and played a 9x9 game of capture go. I'll send out a separate notice on this in a couple days, but next Sunday starting at about noon I'll do a one hour (or so) review of the "Game of the (20th) Century," played in 1934 between Go Seigen, very probably the best player in the history of the game, and Honinbo Shusai, last holder of the last of four go titles granted by the Shogun 400 years ago. The review is in honor of Go Seigen's 100th birthday earlier this month!

    Happy solstice to all!
