What experience do you have with Go?

See above. Also, I'm very interested in becoming a better Go teacher. My plans are to start in on doing outreach to local schools in the near future. I play Go online at KGS (, user name atarithis. Re my avatar, I can be a tough player but not that tough! :)

Do you have a rank (approximate is fine)?

Shodan (1 dan)

I'm a long-time player, formerly 4 dan but now about 1 dan (2 dan, some say), returned a few years ago after ~25 years away from active play. My goal is to recover my former strength and have fun doing it! I like to teach too, thus this group.

What Steve B. is saying about this Meetup Group

So far so good, but we need more players! Update: I guess we'll always need more players, but things are definitely picking up. We're averaging close to ten players each time, and with some continued outreach efforts that will only get better. More attendance means folks can get more games and more varied ones, the lessons (josekis and game reviews) Jonathan Ketner has been doing in the early afternoon seem popular (thanks, Jonathan!), and the payoff is apparent in the improved ranks of most of the regulars. After attendance has gone up a bit more, maybe we'll try a periodic tournament (monthly?). Onward and upward!
