Fire & Ice Polar Bear Plunge
January 1, 2013 at 1:00 PM
Location: Eagle Falls, milepost 39 on SR-2 on the Skykomish River, 25 miles east of Monroe.
Admission: $5 (suggested donation to Puget Sound Blood Center)
Why is the Fire & Ice Polar Bear Plunge different from all other Polar Bear Plunges? We offer our bears the opportunity to jump through a roaring fire on their way into the water. The Index Fire & Rescue team will be on hand as always.
The first annual Fire & Ice Polar Bear Plunge will take place at 1:00 PM. Please arrive early for TV interviews and photo-shoot. Under 18 must be accompanied by adult. RISK OF HYPOTHERMIA: The river is very close to freezing. Video interviews will be conducted before and after the jump, and each participant will receive a DVD with individual and team pictures, interviews, slow-motion jump through fire into the river and a Certificate of Insanity, suitable for framing.
Afterward we hit the Prospector Steak & Ale at 201 Croft Avenue in Gold Bar for some burgers & fries. Yes, minors are allowed. Hot cocoa will be provided free of charge to all Polar Bears.
Please arrive by 1:00 PM so we can conduct interviews and have the fire ready by 1:30 for the big plunge. Wear good hiking boots and bring extra towels.
If you plan to come, please call or email me so I know how much hot cocoa to order for the group.
