HI all - The Museum of Somerset is hosting a film night on 15th May showing Philomena, our next book. Didn't know if anyone who hasn't seen it fancied going....? Might be nice to see how the film holds up against the book. Think tix are £5 each :)

Hi, I've not checked my diary.... but I wouldn't mind seeing the film again! Is it pay on the night? Jo x

Hi I was reading it but my tablet decided to update itself and lost it! I think I'll stick to actual books in future. Going to ask my daughter to retrieve it hopefully. have a good holiday:-)

Hi Readers! How is everyone getting on with... or not getting on with "One Night in Winter". I was just about to renew our copy and have been told I can't as it's on request by someone else...... guessing one of us lot? I can pick up the other copy that I have reserved and paid for.
However..... has anyone started yet? I was going to read on my holiday next week but if I'm the only one I may choose trash novels instead.
Let me know please!

Finished it yesterday. When I read the blurb' I was not looking forward to what I thought would be a heavy read, Russia, Stalin, war, shootings .... have to say, I was surprised by the story and enjoyed it, even though it's hard to keep track of all the Russian names and references at points.
Hi I am about half way through the book. Struggled a bit with all the different Russian names etc but I am now quite enjoying it. Just very relieved I don't live in Russia!!

This month's book is by Simon Sebag Montefiore and is called One Night in Winter:
The next book club book that has been selected is:
Philomena by Martin Sixsmith. Some of us have already seen the film, others haven't.
Come and join us!
A book club for meeting people and having some social time whilst talking about our novel of the month. I've not organised a book group before, so am happy to be directed by members attending.
Meetup has allowed me to meet people I wouldn't have met naturally - they're totally different than me.
