57Anyone from the Midwest probably has fond memories of playing Euchre. I'm from Racine Wisconsin and learned Euchre while at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. You know that when you play regularly, your clothes fit better, you're happier and often have a better sex life. At least that's been my experience.
If you're not from the Midwest and you want to experience happiness in life, you must learn how to play Euchre. It's an easy to learn game that isn't too taxing on the mind so a refreshing beverage is an appropriate accompaniment. All levels are welcome. We are seeking new members mostly in the age range of 25 to 55. If you are a complete beginner, we have a lesson on how to play one hour before the games begin. That's all the time you need.
Beginning players can learn the game at: www.euchrelinks.com and can play online for free at Pogo.com or Yahoo.com.
We play recreational tournaments every other week. People play to win but it's more important to have fun.
The way the tournaments work....you get to play with a bunch of different partners throughout the night and you add up your points in each game. We're a fun group and no one gets too serious about the game....but we still have rules:
1. We don't play Stick the Dealer
2. If you get euchred, you have to put $.50 in the Kitty.
3. If you renege, the hand is stopped and the opposing team gets 2 points. If the renege happens on an Alone bid, the opposing team gets 4 points.
4. "A card laid is a card played".
5. If someone picks up but does not discard their sixth card, two points are given to the opposing team.
6. If someone plays out of turn, the card is taken back and no penalty is assessed.
7. We play eight deals per game. It's our way of keeping tables finishing at the same time.
8. The opposing team gets 2 points for an Alone euchre.
I ask for an Annual $5 payment from members to pay for the cards, Meetup fee, etc. that one can pay at their first event. Non-Member Drop ins & Guests pay $5 per event. For security, all new member applicants must have a current real photo showing their face to be admitted.
