To be with other people who enjoy flowers and learning different project with flowers
The cost is usually $15, but varies when we're doing projects that require more flowers. Is this within your budget?
Since the organizer buys flowers and supplies for our projects based on number of RSVP's, are you willing to cooperate with an attendance policy? For instance, if you respond YES, but can't come, can you get a replacement, or be willing to pay?
This Meetup is all about arranging flowers & creating floral projects to take home the same night. Most of the time we’ll be using fresh flowers, but an occasional silk flower project is a possibility.
We’ll meet at the Organizer’s Farmhouse in Edgewood, WA, very close to Fife & Milton. Julia’s Farmhouse was built in 1900, and is a comfy old place, and very relaxed. There is room for up to 15 members every time – many more would be a squeeze. If our Meetup gets larger, we’ll decide together what we’d like to do, but for now, and to keep it homey and affordable, we’ll meet at the Miller Farmhouse. There is a modest cost to cover the materials used for the monthly projects. The group discussed snacks & decided we don't really need them, so no expense there. But don't be shy if you want Julia to brew you a cup of tea or coffee!
We’ll experience Do-It-Yourself Flower Arranging at its best! If you don’t think you can arrange flowers, you’ll surprise yourself. And your confidence will grow each month. The Meetup Organizer is a 25 year professional florist. She will gently guide and teach each month, in a very encouraging, non-threatening manner. Nobody is too dumb to learn about flower arranging!!
Join this Meetup if you want to make some pretty, flowery things, regularly, and show them off to your girlfriends and family. Wear or bring a bib apron if you have one, just in case we do something messy—and sometimes your hands might get a little dirty (or green!) It's best that you have your own flower snipper, wire cutter & ribbon scissors to use, but we can share flower tools if necessary. Julia doesn’t have 15 sets of tools, so sharing across the table may require just a touch of patience, like in grade school.
Members are expected be active participants. Don’t come if you’re cynical, grumpy or really negative, or if you feel the need to criticize other people’s work. But if you’re just having a bad day, please DO come! You’ll feel better by the time you go to bed!
The Organizer needs you to reply on time, and pay in advance via PayPal, in order to have all the supplies necessary. Julia will buy enough for everyone who responds!!
Refunds are a paperwork challenge, and not generally available. In fairness, the materials have been ordered and paid for days in advance, and cancellations with last minute refunds would create an undue financial burden on the Organizer. If you have an emergency, please let Julia know and she will do her best to accommodate you with credit for future Meetups.
Newcomers are welcome. We’ll do introductions every time, so that people can get to know each other. Julia likes nametags, so we’ll probably wear them. We will agree as a group to be ever patient with newbies, so that you don’t feel intimidated. Flower arranging is for anyone & everyone.
Julia will provide driving directions to everyone via e-mail, so when you respond, mention where you’re coming from. The Meetup start time is 6:30 p.m., and we’ll do a little un-winding, and begin arranging by 6:45. We will usually be finished with our project in an hour, and you can hang out until 8:30 or so, but if it’s a school night, you’ll definitely not want to stay longer than nine.
