Pokeno

We play about 20 games of pokeno and everyone has a chance to win gifts and quarters.  There are a few extra "hostess gifts" as well.  Lots of fun!  It's very similar to bingo except with pokeno cards.

Please bring small markers (not magic markers) to mark your card - pennies, little plastic chips, anything small to cover your cards.  I bring all the rest of the supplies.

This event will be held at Panera and they ask that you not bring food or drinks in.  We will meet at 5:30 to eat (or earlier if you want to get there earlier) and then start playing at 6:00 pm.

Let's see how this venue, day and time works for everyone!  The limit will be 20 and I'll keep a waitlist.

Thank you soooooo much, ladies, for your ideas about the hostess gifts. I think the level playing field, all bringing the same thing: $10 in quarters and a gift, and no hostess, per se, is a great idea. No one would feel obligated to "be the hostess". If someone decided they wanted to bring an extra little somehting for a special game, that's fine. And/or put the names in a hat of those that didn't win anything, and they get a shot at winning something at the end. All great ideas!
Look for more pokeno events at Panera and maybe at other locations or my house in Melrose.

    Hi Ellen,

How much should I spend on the unwrapped gift?
    $10 ? More /less? I don't want to show up with a
Coffe mug and have others show up with spa certificates.

    April 9, 2013

    • janice

Regina - definitely get spa certificates ! lol- just kidding, but I do like the sound of that - glad you asked this question - I was wondering also -

      April 9, 2013

    • Ellen C

Best to stay right around $10, if you got your item on sale, that's of course all the better! But you bring something that you'd like to get yourself as a gift. You'll see, the gift cards and cash always go around and around!!! But it's all good. For eg, if the coffee mug is $6.99, throw a small bag of lindt chocolates in it and there you go!

      April 9, 2013

  • Ellen C

Hi everyone, I just sent a long detailed email to you all so it should be clear what to bring! A $10 gift, $10 in quarters, and little markers for your card. I bring all the rest of the supplies needed.
Panera doesn't want anyone to bring in foor or DD drinks etc so please plan on buying a drink there and/or food.

    What do I bring?

    March 27, 2013

    • Ellen C

Hi Carolyn, you bring $10 in quarters (basically you "ante up" or pay for each game that is played, with the chance of winning quarters.....you also bring an unwrapped gift for the pokeno table, and you also have a chance of winning one or more of those gifts. You also bring little falt marbles or plastic bingo chips or other small markers to mark your card (not magic markers).

      March 27, 2013

    • Ellen C
