Peabody Book Club

We are a lively, spirited group of women who love to read and are open to stretching their comfort zone.  Books are selected by a rotation of participants who will suggest 3 books and one will be selected by majority vote. The person who chose the book will lead the discussion/questions at that meeting.

Our Book of the Month selection is:  Tell the Wolves I'm Home (was scheduled for November) . This was scheduled for November but since we can't find A different Blue in the library we will read Wolves instead and plan a different book for November.....

A Different Blue by Amy Harmon

Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know her real name or when she was born. Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old. At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on with life, she is just a senior in high school. With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least. Tough, hard and overtly sexy, she is the complete opposite of the young British teacher who decides he is up for the challenge, and takes the troublemaker under his wing. This is the story of a nobody who becomes somebody. It is the story of an unlikely friendship, where hope fosters healing and redemption becomes love. But falling in love can be hard when you don't know who you are. Falling in love with someone who knows exactly who they are and exactly why they can't love you back might be impossible.

Please only sign up if you can really come, please bring some titles to the October meeting. Octobers books is The Sportwriter and its all one word. I was looking for The Sport Writer and didn't find it. WE will be reading The Shadow of the Banyon in November and I will edit the November listing later today.
I hope to find out soon who the next organizer is. There are a few of you out there (no names, yet) who we know can do this really well :-)

Very interested in joining this group but haven't read this book. When do you post the book for next month?

I loved the book and am thrilled to see so many coming. There is a waiting list and I see a couple of names of people planning to come who have been no shows in the past. Please be sure to update your rsvp if you are NOT coming and there is no need to email the group to say you are coming or not coming. Just keep the rsvp up to date and hopefully anyone on the waiting list will be able to come. Thanks all.

A Different Blue is not listed in the Minuteman Library system. The author Amy Harmon is also not listed. It would be good to choose a book that people can get and that is "known".

someone mentioned that they didn't see the listing for sept. I see that there were already 3 people signed up, but I clicked on the link to announce, maybe it wasn't announced earlier. So I hope that this solves any confusion...
