EVENT NOW CLOSED:)

THIS EVENT HAS NOW BEEN UPDATED TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

HI Ladies: I got us a package deal for our Portland day trip:
$70.00 PLUS PAYPAL FEE: for the following:

DOWNEASTER ROUND TRIP TICKET & LAND AND SEA - PORTLAND CITY
What do you get when you combine a Lighthouse Lovers Cruise with a Portland City Tour? A unique land and sea tour of Portland with time to enjoy lunch and shopping, too! Maximize your sightseeing with this exceptional combination tour. Enjoy everything listed in the Portland City Tour, plus a Lighthouse Lover's Cruise on Casco Bay.

We get into Portland around noon and would do the 1:30 trolley tour (105 min) and then the 4:30 cruise (approx. 90 min)  That would give us an hour when we get into Portland, an hour between the trolley and cruise, and a few hours after to poke around.
This is rain or shine and this upcoming weeks weather looks fantastic!!!! EVENT IS NON-REFUNDABLE
THIS NEEDS TO BE PAID VIA PAYPAL ASAP.  I NEED TO CALL IN HEAD COUNT AT 9AM ON MONDAY.
THANKS,SUE

Hey Ladies:

I have never been to Portland, ME and want to take the DOWNEASTER and check it out.

Ticket cost is approx. $40, they do offer senior discounts and AAA discounts.

We will catch the 9:23 am train out of Woburn and arrive at approx 11:23 am and catch the 7:55 pm train back and arrive back home at 9:59.  There are also pickups available in Boston and  Haverhill.

No set agenda, just checking things out.  As I said I have never been there and think there we may have to take bus over to downtown from the train station.  So if your up for a wing it kind of day, come join us!

Tickets can be pre-purchased or purchased day of event.  We usually double check weather 3 or 4 days prior to event just to make sure no hurricanes or extreme weather is heading our way.

Also, a friend told me about a great donut place in Portland: http://theholydonutmaine.com. Do you think we can check it out? It was on the Phantom Gourmet. ; )

have done this little trip several times, Portland is awesome! there is a bus(last year it cost a dollar!!) that goes from the train station to the Old Port area--where all the shops and restaurants are, a lot of beer pubs, funky gift shops, and there are some high-end places too. i would advise comfortable walking shoes, some of the streets are cobblestone so dress shoes/heels don't work very well... there is a nice museum in the area, also the Victorian Mansion is a pretty good take. the waterfront is right there for the cruises etc. there's a kitchen store i always visit and usually end up with 1/2 dozen bottles of the best flavored olive oils and vinegars--that you can sample before you buy!
i would love to go this time but saving my vacation days for the Harvest on the Harbor Festival in October, we stay up there 3 days...
i would caution you to stay in the 'tourist' areas, some places can be a little 'sketchy' like any big city, daytime will be fine tho...

    enjoy your day :)
