Volunteer and serve breakfast at the New England Center for Homeless Veterans

I volunteer a couple of times a month serving lunch at the shelter. Great group of men and women who have served our country and have come back needing a little help. The Center, which was started by a Veteran, provides housing, health care, social services, food, as well as a multitude of other services for our returning heroes. They have volunteer groups come in on weekends and do breakfast service. We don't provide the food, just smiles and friendly faces. The serving starts at 7:15am and we would be done by around 9.  We have gone as a group several times and hope to keep this up monthly, there's a limit to 6 servers each time. It's really a wonderful time. Some of the ladies asked about baking/bringing something. I also spoke with the head of the kitchen....just avoid things with nuts because of allergies. Hope to see you all then! We can carpool, it's near the Orange line and if you drive in you can park right in front. Also remember a hat, you need to have your head/hair covered to serve.

Right before Thanksgiving....we can think of doing something special.

Oh no. I was on the waiting list and now have the chance to attend...but I have already signed up for an all- day event at Mass Audubon. I see there are others waiting so I hope someone can take my place. It sounds like a really worthwhile event.

Hi MaryAnn, we do often get a waitlist. Sign up though because people do drop off. There is the limit of 6 people because the space for serving stations is smaller. 6 or 7 if I'm cooking because that takes me off the line
