A Christmas Carol (Christmas Books #1)

    by

    Charles Dickens

    3.97 of 5 stars

One of the best-loved and most quoted stories of “the man who invented Christmas”—English writer Charles Dickens—A Christmas Carol debuted in 1843 and has touched millions of hearts since.

Cruel miser Ebeneezer Scrooge has never met a shilling he doesn’t like...and hardly a man he does. And he hates Christmas most of all. When Scrooge is visited by his old partner, Jacob Marley, and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Yet to Come, he learns eternal lessons of charity, kindness, and goodwill. Experience a true Victorian Christmas!(less)

Did any one see the article in the Sunday Globe on the possible origin of "A Christmas Carol"? Dickens might have scooped the idea from Lowell Mill Girls when he visited (1842), the year before "A Christmas Carol" was published. Wow… copywriter laws were different back then…. but still…. here's the link:

If you can't open the link, let me know by email. I'll send it to you. Jan

    Hi Sudeepta.

I've decided not to attend tonight's book club meeting due to the coming snowfall. I really don't like driving in the snow.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday and I'll see at the next book club meeting in January.

Why doesn't this RSVP ask for guests? I would like to bring one and that would fill up all spots. What say you?
