Volunteer and serve breakfast at the New England Center for Homeless Veterans

I volunteer a couple of times a month serving lunch at the shelter. Great group of men and women who have served our country and have come back needing a little help. The Center, which was started by a Veteran, provides housing, health care, social services, food, as well as a multitude of other services for our returning heroes. They have volunteer groups come in on weekends and do breakfast service. We don't provide the food, just smiles and friendly faces. The serving starts at 7:15am and we would be done by around 9.  We have gone as a group several times and hope to keep this up monthly, there's a limit to 6 servers each time. It's really a wonderful time. Some of the ladies asked about baking/bringing something. I also spoke with the head of the kitchen....just avoid things with nuts because of allergies. Hope to see you all then! We can carpool, it's near the Orange line and if you drive in you can park right in front. Also remember a hat, you need to have your head/hair covered to serve.

A santa hat should be fine Andrea...if you have longer hair, which I don't think you do based on your picture, just please tie back your hair. Be there around 7:15, don't go too much earlier, they won't serve until 7:30ish. Andrea you'll be done by usually 9=9:15. If you have to leave earlier, just let someone know.
Ladies, don't be nervous, several of the others serving with you will have served before. Donna's a true pro and Dot and Pat have been there a # of times as well. The men are generally extremely sweet and appreciative. They look forward to our smiling faces!
When you get there, go inside and get a copy a little sheet of paper/sign to put in your window for parking.
Feel free to email me or call me with anything else....my cell # is[masked]

I've been here a number of times. If the santa hat is not ok (health code thing) they will provide you with something. Ill be there at 715. Fyi meters are free on Sunday. There is also parking in front of the center as well as stapless (commercial pkg except on Sunday)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
