I love to learn about and experience different wines. I've been trying to develop my palette for a while now, and I would love to meet other people who enjoy a glass or two.
Currently, I'm a fan of Chardonnay, specifically ones that lean more toward oaky, vanilla, and buttery flavors. I'm also exploring Pinot Noirs and I love a good Malbec. Fruit-forward is my buzzword for reds, though I tend to think of them as "jammy".
Tastings that focus on particular regions or varietals. Also, how to pair food with wine, with examples of what tastes good with particular wine, what tastes bad, and the reason why.
A friend joined and is attending the holiday bubbly tasting, which sounds great!
I particularly enjoyed the first wine tasting class I ever took. We were given small paper cups with a variety of items, mostly food, from coffee beans to strawberries to tobacco. The teacher had us smell the wine then smell the items to try to identify the smells in the wine. It really cemented in my mind the idea that the wine should be experienced through smell before it's ever tasted.
Did someone say "wine"? I'm not an aficionado (yet), but I do enjoy exploring all things wine related.
