May - April Showers Just Brings May Drones Out

All NTDUG Events are governed by our SOP and Guidelines Document.

What we have here is a very nice cushy corn field with stalks around 10-18 inches tall.  To get there you can go around to the backside of the Medical Center and you will find a red/white barrier.  Go around the barrier and park alongside the road.  This site is best suited for short take off or hand launched vehicles.  There is a highway about a half mile away so everyone will have to pay attention to their controls and try not to fly near the highway, at all.

Other than that, it promises to be a nice COOOOL fly in!  Come on down, bring some snacks and your kiddies.  We hope to have a lot of fun and maybe we can all grab some dinner or lunch together somewhere local.

**This event is rain or shine. If our venue is a wash-out, for weather or politics, an alert will be announced/posted.

The site selection committee is always looking for new and varied flying sites. If you have one in mind, or even a suggestion on what to look for send me a message to add it to a site list. If possible, please provide a description of the field, a Google/Bing map link, and a point of contact for that location (if there is one.)

Please send me a message if you would like to serve on the site selection committee as well. The committee will meet briefly, via in person or via VOIP, once or twice a month as needed to consider and select locations for the group.

Keep it safe, we look forward to seeing you (and all of your fingers) at the flight line.

That is the raw file from my gopro. The original file is actually much crisper.

We but from all over the world, getting parts local is preferred but hard due to how specific our components can get. Come out tomorriw and we can yap about it

If this wind keeps up, it will make for an interesting day. Battle of the Flight Controllers? LOL

Lol. Right! I am wanting to build a drone so I will get to see some flight controls in action in some hard core conditions.

Look at out files section, it's mostly fir fixed wing but you could adapt and add to it. If you do that I'll add your document to the list!

looks good. One thing you could do is make two different documents. One would be a detailed manual and the other would be a condensed checklist. I am also working on a checklist.

Drove by that field today to check it out. Might be wise to bring sheets of plywood or cardboard to launch off of-those wheat fields are at least 12-16" inches deep.

There is a good length of road that extends parallel to the flight line, it would easily be used to take off and land from. Last time we were here the fixed wings used this as their runway. Even a ten foot gasser!

So spot landings on card board will be the order of the day?

    1 · May 5, 2014

Spot landings on four thread spools for each leg of the F450. :-)

Does anyone have a pre-flight and post flight checklist that they would be willing to share? I fly a Flamewheel F450 with Naza v2, Futaba radio, and iPad ground station. I found this one here: http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/checklist/

Ah, checklists. Checklists are good. Thanks for reminding me I'm not taking this seriously enough.

Be aware that there is an active heliport located at the hospital.

Question I have a Phantom. Do all Multi-rotors that have DJI NAZA setup use center stick on the Spectrum / Futuba transmitters like the Phantom transmitter?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
