513 Cedar Bayou Blvd., Gordonville, TX
Travel time is about 2 hours from the mid-cities.
We will meet at Cedar Bayou Marina and hit the trail no later than 2:00PM. It is about a 2.5 mile hike to Five Mile Camp where we will camp for the night. Difficulty level is moderate (some may say easy, but for some may be moderate, consider your fitness level), trail is hilly. You will need to backpack in all your supplies and equipment (i.e. shelter, food, cooking equip...). Bringing in your water is a good idea, you can filter from the lake but it's not very tasty. Please have your dog on a leash while hiking.
Sunday morning we can head out and maybe do a BBQ place before returning home.
Cross Timbers Hiking Trail begins in Juniper Point recreation area and winds west some 14 miles along the southern shoreline of the lake through Cedar Bayou and Paw Paw Creek resorts to Rock Creek Camp. Between Juniper Point and Cedar Bayou the hiker travels high above the lake on the rocky ledges that make up the shoreline. From these high vantage points one is refreshed by beautiful views of the lake and its shores. We will be able to view the shoreline on the hike back!
