Who wants to join me for a moonlit night hike?
I will be hiking in Fort Worth at Marion Sansom Park. This is a Mountain Bike single-track trail, but in good condition with some ups and downs and switch backs. I hiked it last week and did about 3.4 miles (cut off a part), so plan about 3.5-4 miles. Wear good hiking shoes/boots as it is rocky and rooted in many places. And don't forget water and possibly a jacket (can't predict the weather).
According to the lunar calendars, the moon will be at about 99% full that night, rising around 7:40p with a sunset around 8p. So the time listed is when we will meet at the parking lot, and plan to start hiking just after sunset.
You can also bring headlamps and/or flashlights, but I am hoping to do parts of this in full darkness, lit only by the moon. Many parts of the trail are not covered, so this should work out (fun to experiment and try new things, right?). Having red lights is highly encouraged if possible, as those won't effect night vision.
