UPDATE:  As of May 15, 10 FEMALE counselors as well as 10 male counselors are needed for the week.  If you are interested or know of anyone who is, please let me know.  This is perfect for college students and teachers!

Hi outdoorsy friends! Counselors are needed for Camp MDA, a camp for kids and teens living with muscular dystrophy. We are currently short 30 male volunteers. If these spots aren't filled, kids can't attend camp. Volunteers are required to complete an application and interview process. Contact information to start the process will be provided to any interested participants. Volunteers must be at least 18 and graduated from high school. Volunteers stay in the cabin with campers and accompany them to activities like horses, fishing, boats and arts and crafts. The camp is an overnight camp and lasts one week. Volunteers may be required to assist w/ care activities for the campers like feeding, assisting them onto or off of the toilet, or helping with bathing. Training is provided for each of these activities. This is truly a life-changing and affirming activity for many of the counselors!

Hi! As of today they are still short 1 woman and 3 men. If you are interested or know anyone who might be, give the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in Dallas or Fort Worth a call. Thanks!!

Does this have to be for the whole week? I am available or the weekend but have to work on Monday.

It does have to be for the week...I think that's the biggest challenge. We do have weekend opportunities other times of the year. If you're interested in learning more about those, private email me a #, and I'd be glad to talk with you more.

Can't be there for the week. Any chance they need help for the day?

No...thank you for asking though. They also have all the female spots filled. This group of diagnoses are interesting in that many more males are impacted than females.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
