Weekly Thursday Night Game Gathering at IHOP (6:00 PM)

  • Feb 21, 2013 · 6:00 PM

We are a group of people who like to get together on Thursday nights (at IHOP) and on Sunday afternoons (at Madison Square mall) to socialize over boardgames. We play a wide variety of games so there is sure to be one to suit everyone's taste. Just look at our games played discussions. Most games can be taught in about 5 minutes so everyone can join in the fun without feeling lost for long. Come join us, you'll be glad you did.

Some of us arrive at 5:30 for pre-game meals. Some of us eat during a game. Some of us arrive at 7:00 or 8:00. Games are played at multiple tables with varying game play durations so you should be able to join in a game after a short wait no matter when you arrive. Although people start to leave after 9:00, some people have been known to play past midnight.

Unfortunately, most people do not RSVP so it is not a good indicator of the number of people who will actually show up at a meetup. Look at the past meetups for a better indicator of the number of people who will attend.

Erik, Gil, Heather, Helen & Laurie started with Liar's Dice. It came down to Erik & Gil, but, to great surprise of everyone, Gil was the better liar. Table then played Boom Town. Gil paid a lot of money for saloon girls, but was unable to purchase a saloon for them, thanks to money bags Heather buying it from under him. Those girls being unemployed for the whole game really impacted Gil's ability to acquire money & win. Heather won by flying under the radar. It helped that she sat next to Gil, who paid far too much his mines due to the prices being driven up by the Laurie/Erik cartel. Helen left and the group played Village. Game was pretty tight but Gil won by 1 point. Then Erik claimed math error. New math resulted in Erik's victory by a point. The crowd was stunned. Stage is set for a rematch with a score keeper other than Erik. At other tables, Castles of Burgundy, Dark Minions, Guild Hall, Kingdom Builder, Nuns on the Run, Oregon & others were played.
