Weekly Sunday Afternoon Game Gathering

We are a group of people who like to get together on Thursday nights (6:00 at IHOP) and Sunday afternoons (1:00 - 6:00 at Madison Square mall) to socialize over board games. We play a wide variety of games (look at our games played discussions) so there is sure to be one that suits your tastes. Most games can be taught in about 5 minutes so everyone can join in the fun without feeling lost for long.

Come join us, you'll be glad you did. We meet at the eastern side of the food court. Southern entrance to the mall, next to Dillards, is the easiest way to the food court.

Unfortunately, most people do not RSVP so it is not a good indicator of the number of people who will actually show up at a meetup. Look at the past meetups for a better indicator of the number of people who will attend.

  • Gil A.

Gil, John, Kath, Mary, Michael C, Michael W & Russell played King of Tokyo with the expansion. Russell & Michael C died after 2 rounds. In 3 more rounds, Gil's Giant Panda (with 4 evolutions) was able to amass 20 points and claim victory. Gabe, Gil, Michael C & Ryan then played Castles of Burgundy. It was a close game till the final few moves when Gabe broke away from the pack. Gabe, Gil & Jeremy played Age of Industry. Jeremy was in debt most of the game, paying 10% interest every single turn (2 actions). This really hurt him. Gabe had tons of money, and the 22 points this gave him was enough to carry him to victory. Moral of the story: debt is bad, money is good.

John R. and John S. played Dominion. John S.'s first play of the game. In the end John R. was to much for John S. winning by 20+ points. Mike C., Ryan, John R., and John S. played Tribune. John S. and Ryan were new to the game but picked it up quickly. Game play went as usual with people stealing factions a few times to gain what they needed. Without anyone noticing Ryan gathered the things he needed to complete his end game conditions then said "Vini, Vidi, Vichi!" to trigger the final round of play. Everyone else then scrambled to try and reach their own conditions for victory. John R. was the only one to reach the needed conditions to challenge Ryan. Ryan had the 4 more points than John R. to claim victory. Good win Ryan. Then Mike C. left leaving John R., John S., and Ryan to play Smash up. John R.- Zombie Robots, John S.- Dino Wizards, and Ryan- Alien Tricksters. John S. and Ryan put up a good fight but in the end they were no match for the flood of Zombies and Robots.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
