Tennessee Game Days

When you stay at the hotel, your registration fee is refunded. This will be my 4th visit to the con and it is my favorite. Mainly because they run gaming tours where people teach the tour group a specific type of games (e.g., train theme, space theme, recently released, horror theme). But also because there has never been a problem getting into a good game and they have loads of door prizes. Helen & I have won at least one door prize every year we were there. Here's the link to the website. There are some incentives for registering early. http://tngamedays.com/

Not enough time in the weekend to do everything! Nothing but fun! Met alot great people and played a lot of new games. Will be back bext year for sure. Marriot convention center was a great place to play. Last year won a hat, this year won a game!

This was another great con. On Friday, we played Village, Resistance (twice), Coup & Tzolkin (on my buy list now). Can't remember what we played after the late dinner. On Saturday, we played Uptown, Age of Empires III, Lord of the Rings, Ticket to Ride: Africa (twice), Flash Point, Ginkopolis (on my buy list now), Troyes & Dominion. Forgot what we played before Ginkopolis. On Sunday, we played Thebes (on my buy list now) & A House Divided (3.5 hour game).

This is hands-down the most fun con for Helen & me. The staff are great and there are gobs of people who want to teach you how to play games. It is so easy to join a game or to start one and have people join in. All the attendees are there to play games and have fun. Even the little ones were having fun. Plus, they have great prize support

Helen & I kept up our tradition of winning a door prize for the 5th year in a row. I chose Arkham Horror: Kingsport Horror Expansion (Spartacus & 7 Wonders were the other choices) and Helen chose For the Win with the 3-4 player expansion. I chose Arkham Horror because I thought it was a stand-alone game. It's not. I'm willing to sell it for $25 ($50 retail, $33 at Coolstuff Inc.) or trade it for another game. Laurie has won a door prize for two years in a row. Pam & Craig have won a door prize at their first time at TGD. I'm sure there were others. At the flea market, we picked up Jamiaca for $30 ($40 at Coolstuff), Santiago for $8 ($26 at Coolstuff), brand new Macao for $25 ($30 at Coolstuff), Uptown for $5 ($14 at Boards & Bits) & Singapore for $20 ($45 at Boards & bits). From the onsite vendor , we picked up Flash Point ($40 less the $20 con discount) & John picked up Android: Netrunner. A lot of new games should be hitting the tables in the next couple of months.

This was so much fun! Huntsville was very well represented. Monty and I are definitely going again next year. We played games of: City of Remnants, 10 days in Asia, Road to Canterbury, Tzolkin, The Resistance: Avalon, 2 Rooms and a Boom, Little Devils, Shadows over Camelot, Loopin Louie, Love Letter, Battleline, Viva Java, and Modern Art. It was also nice to see that our copies of Love Letter and Suburbia got a lot of play.

Today, Jan 24, is the last day of the promotion where you get free Admission when you stay at the con hotel. If you've been on the fence, today's a good day to decide. We're staying the whole weekend so got entry fees for the family (3 tickets) refunded.

I'm considering going to this, as I have a friend that lives in Franklin that I can stay with. He'd probably come too...

The problem I'm running into is that my wife would probably want to go as well, but then we don't have anyone watching our children. :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
