Just got a note from the organizers concerning the kickoff and the screening. One statement really concerns me:

"For each screening group, the audience will vote for their three favorite films and from these votes, one film will be awarded the audience award."

Does it really come down to how many people we can pack into the audience deciding who will be the runners up? I mean, I can pack that entire theatre with friends. Twice. Doesn't seem fair. Also doesn't seem fair for someone who puts a lot of work into a project yet doesn't have enough friends and family to bend votes to be even considered. Tell me this doesn't come down to a popularity contest. Tell me this is a joke.

      Hi Jeff,

I won the Audience Award 2009 in San Francisco: Group A CurlyHairedPeople, "The Greatest Holiday Film Ever Made".

      The theater was sold out:
My friends + my team = 8 people.

That's pretty typical for an audience award. It's only one of many awards given, I wouldn't be too concerned. The judges will decide best film, best actor, etc.

At the last meeting, did I recall someone mentioning a category unique to the SR contest? Or is the list on the website the official and final genre list?

Want to raise funds for your ‪#Santa Rosa‬ ‪#48HFP film's production budget? We have a great idea for you!

Even though 48HFP rules require all cast and crew to be volunteers, having a budget for equipment rentals, locations, and food can be a great help. Try a campaign for your film on ‪Kickstarter‬!

Just moved to the Bay Area from Baltimore--I haven't done one of these before but I'd love to get involved and I teach digital media/computers at a school so I have some gear to contribute.

Drumroll please…. The 2014 ‪‎Filmapalooza‬ will be held in… ‪‎NEW ORLEANS‬! The Big Easy, the birthplace of jazz and ‪#MardiGras‬ capital of the US, is waiting for us with a Dixieland band, powered sugar coated beignets, and a sophisticated Sazerac or an ice cold Hurricane with a big red cherry on top.

The dates are (put this in your calendar!)….March 6 – 9th.

We will be screening the films at the historic (but newly renovated) Joy Theater!

Tickets will be available to all ‪48HFP‬ ‪‎filmmakers‬. ‪‎Santa Rosa‬'s winning film will screen! More info to follow....
