Millerton Lake - Group Camping

I've never been to Millerton Lake, but a few members suggested it so I went ahead and got the group site!

HEAT, RAIN OR SHINE:  Yes, we camp in it all, so be sure to come prepared for all!

NO EARLY ARRIVALS:  We know how you all like to get the perfect spot, but please do not arrive before our scheduled time of 3:00PM. You will be asked to leave the area until our check in time of 3:00 PM.

IMPORTANT ~ LATE ARRIVALS:  Park Entrance Security Gate will close at 10 p.m. Plan your trip accordingly to accommodate arrival prior to gate closing.

POTLUCK:  Friday is our official POT LUCK dinner for those who would like to participate. The theme will be Italian, but really anything you'd like to bring will be GREAT!  Sign up here for the potluck:

GROUP CAMPING SUPPLIES:  W E will have on hand additional basic kitchen/cooking/cleaning/utensils etc., for our Group Camping trips.  If you run out of something or are running low, please feel free to ask.  We probably have it! If you have a cooking stove it's always great to bring it!  For those who don't I always have additional stoves for you to use.

CARPOOLS:  There is always a limited amount of parking spots at the group sites.  To help encourage you to carpool, we hold the group site parking spaces for those who carpool.  Those who show up as a single driver will unload their things and be taken to any overflow parking area.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE carpool.  You can sign up here:

PARKING: There is limited parking space at group campsites!  Group Organizers, hosts and carpools can park at the group campsite on a first come, first serve basis.  After we have reached our parking limit of 15 vehicles, single drivers and or late arrivals may be required to pay a per day use fee to park.

BOATING:  If you have a boat and would like to bring it, please shoot me an email so we can discuss the details/costs/reimbursements to you etc.!

WATER TOYS:  I have 2 inflatable Kayaks and a few other floaties, so be sure to bring your water toys!

FISHING:  If you plan to fish, be sure to get your license!

FIREWOOD:   We expect EVERYONE to donate to the fire for 2 nights.  There is often FREE firewood listed on Craigslist.

DOGS/PETS: Sorry this is a NO Pet camping trip!

CHILDREN:  Sorry...Adults 18+ only

PAYMENT:  Full payment is due in advance of any trip.  You are not guaranteed a spot unless payment in full is paid. Most payments will be required 30 days prior to any trip, some at the time of your RSVP.

HOW TO PAY:  The paypal account to make payment is [masked]  I do not accept any other payment option for this trip.

REFUNDS:  We do not issue refunds or honor exchanges or transfers.  What that means:  If you pay for this trip and do not go, you forfeit the costs.  No matter the reason, there will be no refunds and you cannot buy, sell or exchange trips.

FROM THE SITE:  Millerton Lake State Recreation Area has over 40 miles of shoreline for water sports. Recreation includes swimming, fishing, and boating. The lake was created by construction of the Friant Dam across the San Joaquin River in 1944. The hills surrounding the lake provide good hiking opportunities.

Wildlife in the park includes ground squirrels, cottontails, mule deer, badgers, and bald and golden eagles.

The park contains the original Millerton County Courthouse, built in 1867. The park's camping facilities include boat camping.

IMPORTANT: Park Entrance Security Gate will close at 10 p.m. Plan your trip accordingly to accommodate arrival prior to gate closing.

The area is 20 miles northeast of Fresno via Highway 41 and Highway 145.
