It's time to get your geek on with a geocaching hike at Bond Park in Cary. Geo what!? In case you don't know, geocaching is a free real-world outdoor treasure hunt. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using a smartphone or GPS and can then share their experiences online. There are 2 million geocaches hidden around the world waiting to be found.
Watch the video below for more information.
If you enjoy a challenge, like to be hike, love puzzles, then geocaching is for you!
A GPS device or smartphone is not required. I got you covered. ;)
If you have a smartphone, you can download the free geocaching app that will lead you to your first three geocaches. The paid version is $10.
You can set up a free account with geocaching.com, but it is not required for this event. Setting up an account will allow you to see geocaches in your neighborhood.
We can grab lunch somewhere nearby if others are interested. Post your thoughts below.
Expect to be on your feet for 1.5-2.5 hours.
All hiking abilities are welcome. This will not be strenuous.
Lunch venues include La Farm and Panera, both close by on Cary Parkway. But as it's a Sunday, expect them to be packed. There's also Jimmy John's, which is pretty good too, just around Maynard Road towards Lowe's and the Dog/Skate Park.
