We will be doing a southern, then western, then northern Colorado ride. Down 285 to Buena Vista, then north over Independence pass, down to Aspen and up to Glenwood Springs. Spend the night in Glenwood. Then the next day we will head west towards Grand Junction, turning southeast at about a little town called Cameo. Then head down highway 65 to Delta, and northeast up towards Redstone, back to Glenwood, then west to Rifle and north to Craig where we will spend the second night. On Monday morning we will head east on highway 40 through Steamboat Springs and on east to Granby. Then up highway 125 to Walden, over Cameron Pass and down Poudre Canyon, back to Fort Collins.
I have done the math on the mileage and time required to ride this route allowing for gas stops, rest stops and sightseeing breaks, and we should have no issues about having to rush, which I detest.
I will contact motels in Glenwood and Craig and get their contact info. Then I will post this info and you will each need to contact them to reserve your room. Should you choose to camp instead of motel, I suggest you research a site. Myself I want a shower and a soft bed.
