Thursday evening hike San Marcos/Double Peak

Just what the doctor ordered!  This is a five mile round trip hike with 1,000 foot of elevation gain on well maintained trails.  There's a great panorama at the top.  I hope to start hiking by 6:15.

Please bring a small flashlight in case we stay until after dark.

Double Peak was an excellent climb, we had a big crowd and were spread out in small groups as we cleared the top.

Most of the time I like having a plan of attack! Sure beats being out in left field or just being attacked.

Chad - Please forgive me for "destroying the spontanaeity of the outing"! I just thought that if other hikers would know about an activity in advance, they could plan accordingly, rather than have another activity planned instead, because they didn't think any after hiking social activity was going to take place. Sorry to have stepped on anyone's toes...

If I recall correctly, the parking lot closes at dark so everyone might want to park outside on the city street to ensure you don't get locked in. Last time they didn't enforce it but why risk it?
Paul, you are destroying the spontanaeity of the outing. We don't plan where we are going but rest assured your beverage needs will be satisfied!

@ Jim - I highly endorse your scientific formula!!
@ Vince - Thanks for the heads-up on Lost Abbey's early closing time. I'm open to any and all options that result in consuming beer. Suggest that we all discuss and decide our post hike destination while on the hike. I just wanted to make sure that someone else besides me was interested in doing a little social drinking afterwards!

Not to rain on anyone's parade, I believe the Lost Abbey only stays open till 9pm on Fridays, but Churchill's Pub is open just down the street from the hike.

I have discovered a new scientific formula through this Meetup, Paul = Beers. Lost Abbey is on! No videos, though.

@ Chad & Jim - Anyone interested in going to the Lost Abbey Brewery for beers after the hike??

Hey Lindsay, we pretty much return on the same trail.
