Ya know what's cool about running at the beach and trails? Everything. In fact, we have enjoyed the weekly beach run so much that we have decided to add another run to the schedule. These runs are for all fitness levels and are geared to get you in shape, or help you stay in shape, as well as prepare you for the upcoming outdoor adventures. The hill running/climbing is a must for training for the adventure/mud runs. Plus, trail running strengthens your ankles big time.
Check each time for the location of the trail run but the primary locations will be Calavera Lake in Carlsbad and Discovery Lake to Double Peak in San Marcos. Clicking on the location above will always get you a map and allow you to get specific directions from your area.
Discovery Lake to Double Peak is about 5 miles round trip with 1000 feet of elevation gain of well groomed trails and paved surfaces if going all the way to the top and back. Run, jog or walk as needed to improve your fitness on hills.
