Gaming in the Cloud: How Gearbox Software uses AWS to Reach Millions of Players

As games get increasingly connected and social, Gearbox turned to the cloud to enable us to connect with customers in new ways. Our AAA console, PC, and mobile titles are now backed by an increasingly rich set of web services on the Amazon Web Services platform. We'll talk about how we built our platform, how we have evolved it in the 18 months since launch, and where we think things are going. Learn about how cloud technology can be used in an exciting and dynamic industry to solve interesting and challenging problems.

He has been with Gearbox for 12 years working on gameplay and networking code for titles such as Halo: Combat Evolved on Windows, Brothers in Arms, Borderlands, and Borderlands 2. Most recently, he has spent 4 years working with Amazon Web Services to bring cloud technology to multiplayer games.

Found out about this too late! Don't suppose there are any videos or slides available from the presentation?

I agree! I'm going to try and book more "true stories of the cloud" speakers in the future.
