Note: This is informational only and is not being coordinated by our local chapter.
Be apart of a volunteer trail crew project that will focus on something that a local chapter can't handle alone: building a bridge or boardwalk, maintaining a little-used and remote section of trail, or putting a brand new section of trail in place.
All volunteers are welcome, no matter your skill level: on the job training is part of the fun! You can participate for a day, a part of a day, or the entire project. All tools, safety gear, and instructions will be supplied. Camping and meals are free, but you must bring your own camping gear. Meals will be prepared by volunteer cooks at the base camp kitchen, with plenty of snacks and sandwich makings available for your work in the field.
Volunteers will be able to stay in our fully furnished bunkhouse or camp outside underneath the stars. Volunteers are welcome to show up Tuesday evening 3/26/13 for our official 10 am start on Wednesday 3/27/13. Volunteers can expect to assist with prefabrication, assembly, equipment operation and finishing work.
Relax by a bonfire at our volunteer center in the evening. Please come ready to get dirty with sturdy work or hiking boots, a long sleeve shirt, and durable jeans. We have laundry facilities, 12 bunk beds, a fully furnished kitchen and shower facilities onsite. RV hookups are not available, but there is plenty of room to throw down camp. Sign up for one day or all 5! Thanks for coming to help build the Florida National Scenic Trail!
