Earth Day at Jax Landing

If I can get some help, I would like to set up a booth this year's Earth Day festival.
We haven't participated in several years.  You don't have to spend the whole day.  When you RSVP, please say what time you can help.  Thanks!

Well, it turned out to be a good day, despite the rain in the morning. Earth Day was moved indoors which concentrated the crowd, so we had a constant stream of visitors up until 4pm. Many thanks to Mike, Mike, Joel/Kathy for coming to help out. We had several people say how surprised they were to learn that FTA existed, let alone there was a chapter in Jacksonville. Also made some good connections with other groups who may need trail help one of these days. The icing on the day was I got to explore OneSpark downtown afterwards. If you go, please go see artist Kathy Stark. At least, view her website: http://kathystark.com/#home. She is a wonderful local artist who captures places we know well.

we are inside on the 2nd floor. chilly in here, bring jacket.no idea of what crowds will be like. I'm here for the duration.

7:30am Saturday morning - does not look promising at all. I'll go down there as planned, but don't come out until I post something to Meetup. Even if the event is not cancelled, I doubt we'll have much of a crowd with this weather. Stay tuned....

Confession - if I get some time (as in some of you can come man the booth), I'll go run over to ONE SPARK and vote for my favorite project. Another reason to come Downtown tomorrow. Hope the rain holds off.

I can be there anytime in the afternoon.

I'm setting up around 9am, and not before. Won't know where our table will be until I check in. I have pens, stickers, Footprints, and brochures from the office, but will need more flyers so bring ém if you have ém. I'm going to set up our display board Paula Snellgrove put together several years ago. It still looks good, even though the pictures are old. If this goes well, I'll add new pics for next year, and some other fun stuff. BTW - remember that we will be next to Lisa Williams of the Land and Water Campaign. She may need some assistance too throughout the day.

I will be working the Master Gardener booth at the Zoo event for Earth Day. Otherwise, I would love to help.

Hi. I am new to this meet-up and saw Leslie's note about it being okay to be new to help out. I will be downtown for the MS Walk and Relay for Life too, but I can help out from around 10:00 am (maybe a bit later) until 12:00 pm. Ken

Leslie I've got quite a few brochures that I'll bring with me. See ya Sat. and will bring a chair.

    April 18, 2013

  • Leslie

I called the FTA office again this morning, and they promise to send me more "hand out" materials, so I think we'll be in good shape.
You might want to bring a chair if you come to help. Not sure how many I'll get with the table.

Earth Day runs 10-4,and you have to man your booth all day, so I'll be there until the end. I'll be happy to have the company whenever I can get it. If you have FTA flyers, bring them. The office didn't send many. I'll also set up our display board. You may end up helping get signatures for the Land and Water Campaign. Hope one of you can come later in the afternoon...that's the long stretch. Always a fun time talking about FTA!

Let me know what hours you need my help.

    April 14, 2013

I'll have a table next to Lisa Williams (Land and Water Legacy Campaign) so we can help each other. The FTA office is sending me a box of FTA brochures and Footprints to hand out.

Me too have been out promoting us along the trail. Did a 2-1/2 day backpack from Ocean Pond to White Springs and met a guy that lives down from the nudist camp in White Springs (Robert Townsend) and he wants to get in touch with someone from our group and I gave him Bills name. Also met some hikers from Florida Crackers going from Ocean Pond to beyond White Springs and spread the NFTB love with them. One of them was a section leader, not good on names. Anyway going to be out until Tues. or Weds. but let me know what you would like me to do for earth day, etc. =>Mike

Just to be clear - if you sign up for this Meetup, you are willing to help with our table. Newcomers are VERY welcome, and no experience necessary, other that you enjoy meeting new people and talking about hiking and FTA. As we get closer to the date, I'll set up a schedule, so you don't have to be there all day (except Mike <g>).
It's really a fun day, and you get to meet alot of other outdoor-minded people.
