Barge Canal Hike

Hike approximately 7 miles along the Florida National Scenic Trail mostly following the old Cross Florida Barge Canal. We will meet at the parking area below Rodman Dam and shuttle to South St. Johns trailhead at Buckman Lock. Dress in layers as the forecast is for cold weather. Bring plenty of water and snacks. Wear appropriate hiking shoes as parts of the trail may be wet. No pet please! Join us afterwards for a late lunch at Backwoods Smokehouse. Be sure to bring your wallet!

I printed out the directions -which do not say how far to go down Rodman -Hopefully the meetup point where we park will be obvious.

It is a few miles to the dam. Do not turn into the campground just keep going until just before the dam and turn left. The parking area and boat ramp are below the dam. If you pass the road you will be able to see us from up over the dam. Just turn around and come back.

Dagmar, it will be obvious when you get near the dam. Turn left onto the road that runs parallel to the dam and go down toward the water.

Ki, That would be great. I'm coming from the westside of Jacksonville, so OP would be on the way.
