Backpacker Magazine Get out more Tour

This is the same day as our annual Christmas campout but thought some might find it interesting.
Sheri and Randy Propster from Backpacker Magazine’s are hosting a free 75 minute backpacking seminar at Gander Mountain in Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, December 1st at 2pm.

We invite you to join us as we bring the pages of Backpacker Magazine to life while showing off some of the latest and greatest gear in the outdoor industry and everyone in attendance has the opportunity to go home with a new piece of backpacking gear.

If I recall correctly, Randy suggested trying new boots for fit at the end of the day after a person's feet had spread/swollen/expanded from standing on them during the day. And, because socks come in different thicknesses, you want to be consistent and use socks of the same thickness when hiking as the socks you were wearing when you had the boots fitted. Or, you could end up hiking with a too tight or too loose boot.

I've gone to their seminars several times and always enjoyed them. This one was just as informative. Learned more about boots that should be helpful going forward. Although I use a different brand boot, the boot technical information found at is very informative. Also, got a lot of good tips on light weight equipment at the seminar.

I went to a Backpacker Magazne seminar last year at Black Creek Outfitters and enjoyed it. Learned alot and found out that you can sleep on the ground in comfort. I recommend new & old hikers to attend. Lots of cool stuff. Sorry to miss this.

I don't believe the sleeping on the ground in comfort part. :-D

Yes, the address is correct Alton. Thanks for posting. This is not a Florida Trail event, but certainly we encourage you to go - BUT don't be late for the Christmas Campout potluck dinner! This demo is supposed to last about 75 minutes.
