Hike Bulow Plantation to Bulow Creek!

Lets hike Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park to Bulow Creek!

If you like really BIG old trees and really INTERESTING old ruins you will LOVE this hike! I have seen evidence of wild boars, deer, and other wildlife on this hike. We will hike from the Ruins to the Creek, drive back and then explore the Ruins (saving the easy part for last!)

Bulow Plantation Ruins website: http://www.floridastateparks.org/bulowplantation/default.cfm

Bulow Creek website: http://www.floridastateparks.org/bulowcreek/default.cfm

Meetup date/time is Saturday, January 19th at 9:15am. Rain date is Sunday, January 20th at 9:15am. I may cancel the hike or alter the details due to weather or other unforseen circumstances.

Lets meet at Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park. From Jax: Take I-95 south to exit #278. Make a left at the end of the ramp, drive a short distance, then make another left on Rt. 2001 (Old Kings Rd). Drive a mile or so and look for the park entrance sign. Make a right into the park and park your car at the main parking area past the self-pay station.

Bulow Ruins has a $4.00 per car (up to 8 passengers) admission fees and hikers are responsible for covering this fee. Note that this is a self-pay station and exact change in cash is required.

We are going to hike from the Ruins to the Creek and drive back. Anyone interested in shuttling hikers or carpooling please contact me. I intend to leave at least one vehicle at the Creek to shuttle hikers back to the Ruins: I will require assistance from at least one other hiker to accomplish this.

The hike from the Ruins to the Creek is about 8 miles. This is an intermediate level hike open to hikers in good physical condition. Hikers should wear shoes suitable for walking long distances. Hikers should bring sunscreen, bugspray, at least 3 pints (bottles) of water, snacks and lunch. The Ruins have restrooms and water. Hikers should budget about 6 hours for this activity.

If you have any health issues, you may wish to write them down on a card and keep in your pack. The leaders will respect your privacy unless there is a medical emergency. Also include a name of a contact person to call.

I will post my cell# in a message the day before the activity in case anyone has any difficulties.

See you there!

    Hi All!

Weather looks good for tomorrow! May be a bit windy, but definitely above average for this time of year!

Don't forget to bring a pack with food, water, etc... as outlined above. This is a primitive 8 mile hike.

If you have any difficulties, give me a call (Saturday) at[masked]-2557. See you there!

Anyone planning on bringing a pet on this hike? This is a pet friendly activity. However, hikers should consider the fitness level and temperament of their pet before deciding if their pet should accompany them on this activity. If you do have your pet accompany you, be sure to bring adequate food/water for him/her and a bowl to eat/drink from.

Hi Bill. Looking forward to the Bulow Hike! I've added one more to my RSVP making it 3. It's my birthday and my son and daughter want to come along. Great birthday plans for sure!! My car seats 5. If you still need shuttling vehicles, I'm happy to help - just let me know. See you next week!

    Greetings Bulow Hikers!

This is a "through" hike, meaning that the hike does not end at the starting point. I need about 5 hikers to volunteer to help drive the group from the end point back to the start point. Volunteers should have a vehicle capable of transporting at least 3 other hikers and their gear. Volunteers should be willing to meet me about 45 minutes prior to the stated start time. Anyone interested, email me at [masked] and I will give you the details.

    Thanks in advance!
