Dust off the saddle, oil the chain and get the legs pumping again

It looks like next Saturday the weather will be suitable to get the North SHore Bicyclists' season started - temps are forecast to be 50ºF by 11AM.

We'll start from the Friend Street Public Parking lot in Amesbury, MA and ride down to the Merrimack River and take Pleasant Valley Road to Rocks Village where we'll cross the Merrimack on the opposite side, past Moseley and back to Amesbury across the Chain Bridge:

The ride will be about 18 miles.

For those that are interested, we'll have lunch at one of the nearby restaurants within walking distance.

As this is likely to be the first ride of the season for many of us, we'll keep a comfortable pace.. Please make sure you have a spare tube and pump. Helmet required!

Do any of the folks on these trips still cycle in sneakers and toe clips or does everybody these days use the clipless pedal system? I don't have clipless pedals and wondering if that would mean I would be unable to keep up in general, on most of the trips.

Heidi - from time to time I'll bring my hybrid bike to a ride like this, and bike with sneakers (I only have clip ins on my road bike) and I'm perfectly capable of keeping up. I don't think you'll have a problem; the ride is less than 20 miles, pretty flat and we'll be riding at a pretty leisurely pace. No drops!

I assume the ride is at 10:00AM and not PM
