Join Us for Northwest Sailing Association's Monthly Meeting

Northwest Sailing Association, a social sailing club with members in Chicago, northern IL and northwest suburbs, invites all sailing enthusiasts to their monthly meeting, Monday, April 21, 2014, 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm,  Arlington Heights Historical Society aft meeting room, 110 W. Fremont in Arlington Heights. Three blocks from Arlington Heights Metra. Ample free parking.

After a brief business meeting, refreshments and socializing, enjoy a presentation by guest speaker Captain Jitka Hanakova of Shipwreck Explorers. She is Owner/Captain of the charter boat Molly V, based out of Milwaukee. Come explore several schooners with her, off of Presque Isle MI that today rest on the bottom of Lake Huron. Captain Jitka will take you diving down into the frigid waters and show you fascinating pictures and videos of what these schooners look like today.

Continue socializing afterwards at Eddies Pub nearby. Organized in 1975, NWSA is comprised of sailors with boats and those without boats who want to crew. More info at

NWSA's 2014 sailing season will be May 17 through October 18 with sails from numerous Chicago harbors as well as harbors in northern IL and Kenosha and Racine WI. Additionally, NWSA has trailerable boat sails at Lake Geneva, Bangs Lake and the ever popular Green Lake.  Our 2014 schedule includes a Door County WI weekend sail, Hammond Casino Sail, Air & Water Show sail, SummerSailstice, Start of the Mac sail and an Across Lake Michigan weekend sail, among others. We have over 20 sails to choose from this summer.

BUT you must be a paid member in advance of any of these sails in order to participate in them. For those who do not have a boat, you will be part of the crew on the boat on which you sail. All crew actively participate in sailing the boat. And you will be informed what your duties are. No pretty faces here. All of us get involved. You must have your own personal flotation device (PFD).

For the price of membership you can join as many sails as you want. Individual membership is $35 for one person 18 y.o.+ and $40 for a Family of two adults 18 y.o.+.  Membership form available online at This is an unheard of deal if you want to get out onto the water and sail this summer.

For a complimentary copy of NWSA's monthly newsletter, Communique, with more details about upcoming sails, contact [masked].

Hope to see you at the April 21 meeting where you'll learn more about NWSA, meet like-minded sailors and enjoy Captain Jitka's riveting presentation.
