PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A PREPAREDNESS MEETING, BUT A SWAP HOSTED BY The Green Lotus Studios and a great way to get involved in the community, share ideas, meet like-minded folks and gain access to FREE healthy, traditional foods and goods.
-You can bring whatever you would like. General ideas : canned goods, baked goods, backyard produce, backyard eggs, sprouts, fermented foods, homemade home goods – soap, body care, hand sewn goodies.
-You can bring however much you would like. If you hope to bring home 10 different things, bring 10 jars of jelly….
-You don’t have to trade! If you spent 6 weeks infusing an oil and don’t find a couple garden bell peppers interesting, simply pass.
-Please use integrity when processing foods. Practice proper hand washing, utensil sterilizing etc.
-Package items to trade. For example if you are trading backyard eggs, have them packaged by the dozen, or half dozen. If you brought baked goods perhaps put the quantities you wish to trade in baggies.
-Bring a box, bag or something to bring home your stuff!
When you arrive you get a name tag, and you place your items on the table. You’ll fill out a provided ‘bid’ sheet. You will need a sheet for each different thing you bring. If you being jelly, and barbeque sauce – you’ll do 2 sheets.
Once everyone is ready you walk around and look at what’s there, you’ll write your name/trade on their bid sheet. So if I want to trade my eggs, for a loaf of your bread I’ll write my name and ‘eggs’ on your sheet. Once everyone is done you go back to your bid sheet and check out names, then swap! This generally takes about an hour or two. It’s like Christmas!
NO EXCHANGE OF MONIES ALLOWED! ONLY TRADED GOODS. You may bring any beverages you would like to have while swapping. Whole family involvement is encouraged, be prepared to supervise children.
