Monthly Preparedness Meeting - June 2

Join other families to learn about preparedness.  This is a great way to meet like minded friends and network for skills with other people.

BRING YOUR OWN CHAIRS! This is a car show room, so please be sure to bring enough chairs for your family / friends.  There is not air conditioner or chairs.  If you think you will be uncomfortable, please do not attend.  Kids are welcome.

What is "just in time stock"?

Update by our food committee! - What types of food should you stock.

Army Navy Outdoor (sponsor) will demo the use of tactical cargo pants, survival vest and general every day carry items.  Show and tell new items on water purification and lights including solar panels.

GYOG - Grow your own groceries and more!  Urban permaculture and food forest in the city or on lots of land.

Learn how to feed your soil to ensure it will grow food full of nutrition and require minimal water.

Learn how to grow sweet potatoes.  These are a great food to grow as they have edible roots and edible leaves.  The sweet potato is grown in many 3rd world countries for the nutrition in the leaves.

Check it out:

Bring items to barter, sell or give away.  Anyone that has extra seeds, or plants and would like to trade, please bring them.  Please come 15 minutes early if you have items to trade.

It would be nice if everyone brought our venue host a prep item (i.e.  honey, seeds, plants, buckets, etc) for allowing us to use his facility!

No cameras or video taping allowed.

This was a fantastic meeting - our first! So much information, great presentations, really nice people in attendance. We had to leave at 7:10, had another commitment to attend. We look forward to future meet ups! So much to learn! I seemed to keep missing the names of the speakers.

What I am going to say is not meant to be critical, it is just my opinion. I usually enjoy the presentations, but this time the clothes presentation seemed out of place and much too long. I know we are encouraged to bring items to trade and sell, which I think is great. In my opinion the people who are selling or trading should be introduced and given a couple of minutes to tell what they have and then the people who are interested in that product can visit that booth of products at their on schedule. and then the people who are training on how to grow, produce, store, etc can present to the group. I left early as did a lot of other people. I think there was another presenter after the Permaculture, but I think most people missed it. Again I don't mean to be critical, this is just my opinion.

Speakers were very good. It was hard to hear the speakers without amplification at the rear of the room. The sun was a problem competing with the slide show. Maybe next time we can choose a different angle for the speakers.

I believe there are large fans in the building, but I don't think it would be a problem if you brought some. We would just need a place to plug them in.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
