Plan to meet at 2pm at the Eagle Creek State Nature Preserve, 10895 Hopkins Rd Garrettsville, OH 44231.
The 5-6 mile hike will be taken at an easy pace with a couple of small hills. We hike together and leave no one behind. If anyone wants to hike just a portion of the trail, you can opt out after 3.5 - 4 miles as we pass the trail entrance on the way to the northern trail.
SORRY, NO DOGS OR PETS ARE ALLOWED IN THE NATURE PRESERVE.
This nature preserve is a beautiful hike with a "variety of communities supporting a diversity of flora and fauna typical of northeastern Ohio. Eagle Creek meanders through a wide floodplain dotted with hardwood forests, beaver dams, marshlands and sphagnum bogs".
There are no restroom facilities except for the option of the woods... On the way to the preserve, you can stop and use the restrooms at Nelson Kennedy Ledges State Park or somewhere in downtown Garrettsville, Ohio.
Please carpool if you can as there are only nine spaces in the small lot. I did speak with the ODNR and have permission to park cars along the wide, mowed grass berm along Hopkins Road.
If any one wants to get together for great food afterwards, plan to meet at Blazin Bills,
12891 Main Market Rd (rt 422), Burton, OH 44021.
If any needs further info or have questions, please call me at[masked] 7312.
