Headlands Bike Ride II

Meet in the parking area at Veterans Park. We will take a ride to Headlands State Park, ride alongside the beach, then return via small neighborhood streets of Mentor-on-the-Lake and some back trails.

Part of this ride will be along Lake Shore Boulevard, which has nice wide bike lanes. For the rest of the time we should encounter very little traffic, as we will be on lightly traveled roads, a paved trail, and some hard packed dirt/gravel trails.

Total distance: about 14 miles.

Yes, turn north on to Reynolds Rd from Lakeshore Blvd and take Salida Rd. Usually when I ride this route I just stay on rt 283 and cross rt 44 and go down by the Grand River by Pickle Bill's and then up by the cement company's and then to Headlands. On my way back to Osborne Park I ride around the Mentor Marsh area before retracing my route back.

I've been doing this route 2 or 3 times a week all summer
Start out at the path by the State Lodge in Geneva On The Lake and then east on Lake Rd (rt 531) to Ashtabula Harbor. And crossing the Ashtabula River and turning around at Lake Shore Park or beyond.
Very nice views of Lake Erie on this route. Nice wineries or lemonaide and other stuff after the ride.

Western Reserve Greenway path is really good too, and very shady.
Park in the lot next to the post office and behind Jewels Dance Hall just east of the intersection of Rt 307 and Rt 45 in Austinburg, OH.

May I suggest meeting at Osborn Park in Willoughby on Lakeshore Blvd, about 1/2 mile west of Mentor.
And ride rt 283 to corduroy and jordan roads (through the Mentor Marsh) to Headlands Beach. About 23 miles

I thought about that--Would you take Salida Rd along the lake then?
