Greenway Corridor bike ride

Please check the map carefully by clicking the Lake Erie College link above. Note that the parking lot where we will meet is NOT at LEC's main entrance. It is at Garfield Center, off Gillett St. in back of the college.*

We're going to take a leisurely ride out and back along Lake Metroparks' beautiful and shady Greenway Corridor.  We'll start out by 6:30.

The ride will be less than 12 miles total and taken mostly on the paved bike trail, with some street crossings and a couple of short sections along roads or sidewalks. The terrain is primarily flat, with a few gentle hills.

The pace will be moderate--about 10 - 14 mph.--and the second half of the ride will have a downhill incline.

As an added bonus, we can stop and take a look at Chair Factory Falls. It is accessible by taking a short (but steep!) .3 mile trail at about the half-way point of this ride. (We'll park our bikes and walk.)

*To get to the Garfield Center parking lot, take W. Washington Street off Rt. 20/Mentor Ave., turn right on Gillett. The parking lot is on the right.

Following the ride and loading up our bikes, we riders might stop over at Rider's Inn Pub on Mentor Avenue for a bite to eat.  (FYI, their kitchen closes at 9:00!)

It may not have dampened anyone's spirit but it certainly dampened our bikes and bodies. Still a great ride.

When you see the damage the storm made its a wonder one of those trees did not fall on the bike path. Wet and Wild Ride!!

The ride back in the wild weather was definitely an adventure. It didn.t seem to dampen anyones spirit. What a great group!

Well, that was an adventure not to be forgotten! (especially near the end, when a couple of us stood waiting in the pouring rain for a lo-o-o-o-ong slow freight train to pass)
We're getting toughened up for more fun times to come! ;-)

I really want to go but have managed to develop a real bad summer cold in the last 24 hours which I don't think I am going to shake in the next 90 minutes, so have fun without me. I will see you at the next one.

I won't be there but would like to. Just can't get myself back into a car with bike on this wonderful summer day. Thanks Lynda for arranging all these neo activities!

Aw, this event sounds great... have a previous commitment though. We got our old bikes all tuned up this spring, and I bought a new helmet, but we haven't had a chance to get out for a ride yet! The Greenway Corridor is a nice trail for someone who has not ridden much in years. Chair Factory Falls is beautiful! Enjoy!

I'm planning plenty of group rides - mostly on Wednesdays - and will probably repeat this ride later in the summer. Watch the calendar!

Great! Wednesday is not usually a good day for us, but maybe we'll catch one (or more) of them. I prefer bike trails over riding on the street... no traffic to worry about! :-)

Or if anybody wants to meet at Garfield Park in Mentor and ride to Painesville and back on Route 84, I can do that.

Would love to join this one, but have to go to Springfield, OH for Wednesday and Thursday.

If anybody wants to ride on the Greenway Trail in Ashtabula County, let me know. I can do that Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
