Welcome friend!

There are already many good hiking groups out there. So why have another one? Well, we don't want this to be another casual hiking meetup or outdoor group. While we enjoy hiking and meeting new and one-time faces, the experience of going to places with familiar faces and good hiking friends is more fun and better remembered. We hike together because we enjoy the company of friends as much as we enjoy going to the high peaks.

This group is about the joys of connecting with friends, old and new, and the fun of together hiking the mountains around us. This group is for those outdoor enthusiasts who hold two inseparable desires: (1) to explore nature and hike the high peaks, and (2) to express ones awe, wonder and experience through their photos.

One of our goal is to bag the full Catskills 3500 list. Many wanted the Adirondacks. Others, Marcy and Katahdin. And some wanted to go to the south and west. There are so many places to see, so many peaks to hike, so many amazing sights to capture. So join us and let's explore the high peaks together. Whether you aim to hike a few only or all, let's together work our plans and explore nature around us.

We will also develop our own series hikes and scenic hike lists as a way to challenge our members. So if you have ideas about peaks, mountains or scenic spots to include in our list, post it in our message forum. If you are an experienced peakbagger, we invite you to share with us your knowledge and lead us the way to the peaks.

We believe that the success of our outings depends on the honest and responsible dealings from our members. We uphold the value of being prudent and responsible with RSVPs. And, we expect our members to do this, not only at NHP2, but also with the other meetups. Grabbing many RSVP spots and dropping them at the later time is not fair to the organizers nor to the participants. We expect our members to RSVP only when really ready and to give due consideration to all.

There are no hard rules in this group. We take pride in the network of solid fun-loving hiking friends we are building in this meetup. We hold each one to be responsible and good in their conduct both here on meetup and during the actual hikes. Being collegial with the other members is very important for us. We expect each one to help promote a sense of community and project a level of trust and fairness within NHP2.

Together, we have a rich sum of hiking knowledge and experience. We will continually promote our collective as well as individual skill levels by learning from one another and helping each other in any way we can.
