Kayak at Keswick

Let's get some paddling in before the real heat comes.  How long has it been since you have kayaked Keswick?  Time to take another look!  Northern California’s Sacramento River system provides diverse and unique paddling opportunities.  Keswick Reservoir is the afterbay of Shasta Lake, which is one of the largest lakes in California. The reservoir is an outdoor paradise of fresh sparkling, blue water, awe-inspiring inlets and awesome kayaking.

Wind & Weather Conditions: The water level fluctuates frequently and daily, depending on operations at Shasta Lake Dam. Water levels are drawn down in the fall to allow winter and spring rains to fill the reservoir instead of flooding the surrounding land. Summer days are perfected by warm temperatures cooled off by the 77 degree waters ( Or cooler). Lakeside picnics and hours of kayaking if we choose.

Please bring your favorite lunch or snacks when we get out of the kayaks to stretch our legs around noon or so.  And of course plenty of water to rehydrate.

Required: Personal floatation devise (PFD) and a sound device (like a whistle)

Advised: Self rescue knowledge and capabilities.  This is cold water and can cause hypothermia.... not to scare folks off, but just saying.

Other items: Hats, sunscreen, sunglasses and a smile.

Pets:  Although I am a pet owner myself and for the safety of our furry friends, this is not a pet friendly event.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
